I was immediately flown to the closest hospital but on the way, I literally died four times before the emergency crew could stabilize me. I had to be placed in an induced coma and on a ventilator for 5 weeks due to the severity of my injuries. Once I woke up, I was told that I had been paralyzed from my chest down during the car accident, and that I was going to have to try to learn how to breath on my own again in order to come off of the ventilator. It took three to four weeks of slowly weaning off of the ventilator in order to learn how to breath on my own again, but I was able to accomplish this difficult goal.
I then asked my parents what happened to the person that hit me? They informed me that he had been arrested but was not severely injured. They also informed me that he did not have any insurance, and that he was destitute and had nothing to sue for. Eventually, he was sentenced to three years in prison for causing the accident, but it took the DA three years to finish the case. It really upset me that this person could make one bad decision that completely took away my life, and he had no way of making any restitution for what he had done. It took me several years, but thanks to my faith I was able to eventually forgive him.
Since the car accident I have gone back to college and achieved an AS degree, continued working with my family’s tax business, and volunteer with a company called Driven in downtown Las Vegas. I have not asked for any help during these 16 years after my car accident, because Medicare and Medicaid have been able to supply me with most of what I need, but this is the first time where my doctor is wanting me to get exercise with a manual wheelchair and a hand bike attachment to the manual wheelchair.
Unfortunately, since my insurance has paid for my power wheelchair it will not also pay for the manual wheelchair. I have worked very hard over the past year to lose weight, and I have actually lost 80lbs. But I am now stuck and need additional ways to exercise and get stronger. I am asking my friends, family, and community to please help me raise the money needed for the medical equipment that I need in order to continue my personal growth.
I have chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button. Thank you for your support!
I want to thank all of the people who have donated to my goal so far. Because of your generosity, I have been able to afford a q-lock system for my vehicle which has given me the ability to drive for the first time since being paralyzed. This has given me such personal freedom and responsibility that I never thought I would ever get back. I'm fact it has allowed me to go back to college. So thank you very much. I am still needing to raise funds for a manual wheelchair. So any donations are greatly appreciated
I want to update everyone that I am in college and working towards a new career. I am still trying to afford a manual wheelchair and would greatly appreciate any donations to help me achieve my goal of losing more weight. I have lost a total of 10lbs in the last 2 months but the use of a manual wheelchair would help speed that process greatly. Thank you to everyone who has helped and who decides to continue to help.
I want to thank everyone who has donated so far and have helped me reach my first $1000 toward my goal. These funds are truly going to change my life, so I just want to express how grateful I am for each and every one of you.
Now we are just getting started so please continue sending out those requests to your family and friends, especially with giving Tuesday coming up next week. God bless each and every one of you and have a Happy Thanksgiving
Hello everyone. it has been one month since I started my fundraiser, Andi want to greatly thank everyone who has generously donated to help me finance my new wheelchair and hand bike attachment. So far we have raised $475. That is a really great start, and with times being tough I really want to thank everyone that has helped me so far.
Coming up this summer, I am planning on doing a national bake sale in connection with my brother in Georgia. So I will be selling baked goods here in Las Vegas and he will be selling some in Winder, GA. Also, for anyone that donates $50 or more will more receive a copy of the first chapter of the book that I am writing. It is called "Living the Ultimate You", and I will start giving that first chapter out to donators beginning on Monday, May 16, 2022. Thank you again for everything you have done and God bless.
I have placed two new photos in the photo album showing what the new wheelchair will look like and the breakdown is the cost of the wheelchair for those that are interested.
I want to thank everyone who has donated so far. in just a few short weeks we have been able to raise $415.00 toward my goal. I just want too say that I am extremely grateful for everyone's donations God bless you and please keep spreading the word and we will reach the goal.
