SOPHIE’S FIGHT AGAINST RARE BRAIN TUMOR

14-year-old Sophie Cepeda, was a vibrant young athlete who excelled in swimming and softball. In July 2021 Sophie was diagnosed with a rare form of Brain tumor – Glioma – that requires extensive radiation and immunotherapy treatment. The tumor has been fast growing, leaving Sophie with little control of her left arm and leg and the right side of her face. Her speech is slurred, she has lost hearing in one ear, and she has double vision.
Sophie will need extensive treatment to try and stop the growth of the tumor and work with therapy to regain some use of her arm and leg and other sensory losses. She will require a full time caregiver, switching the family of 5’s means to a one-person income. There will be necessary expenses for travel, lodging, and possible treatment costs, in addition to their household expenses, causing the Cepeda family unexpected financial hardships.

For those who don’t know Sophie’s mom, Liz, she is a dedicated social worker who has worked tirelessly for over 20 years to ensure transplant patients receive their second chance at life. She would spend late evenings, weekends and holidays, providing over and beyond service to others. In her time of need, we ask for you to please consider donating any amount to assist her family through this journey. If unable to donate, please help by sharing beautiful Sophie’s story. Prayers are also welcomed during this difficult time.
