Things to Know about Donating to Help Hope Live:

Sarah’s Story
After chemotherapy and a double mastectomy surgery, her cancer returned just a few days before she was supposed to begin radiation. At this point, her doctors realized that her cancer is actually a rare and aggressive cancer called Inflammatory Breast Cancer, or IBC.
Most of the treatment choices that Ty and Sarah made are (thankfully) the same that they would have made if they had been armed with the correct diagnosis at the start. However, she does require a second, extensive surgery before starting radiation.
She will have surgery in December at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital’s IBC Clinic in Houston. She’ll have the infected skin removed and then significant surgery to close up her wounds, taking tissue, skin, muscle, and blood vessels from another area of her body.
She’ll begin radiation within 4 weeks post-surgery, also at MD Anderson. Radiation for Inflammatory Breast Cancer is a twice-a-day treatment and will last for about 5 weeks.
When radiation is finished, she will be ready to come home to Knoxville, cancer-free, returning to Houston every few months for scans.
Family and friends of Sarah are raising money with the help of the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Sarah’s IBC treatment.
Donating to Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses.
