We’re asking family and friends to join us in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help with critical expenses Daniel will face immediately after surgery, including the cost of lodging near Stanford’s Transplant Center, where he is required to stay for several weeks.
Daniel is a loving husband, father of 4 daughters and 4 grandchildren. He is the hardest worker we know and has always been able to support us in any way that he can. Even through his current condition, he is still there to motivate us, make us laugh and give his “words of wisdom”. His family has always been his main priority and we now want him to know that he is ours too, especially during this difficult time. Daniel loves helping others in their time of need and is looking forward to finding new ways to give back to his community and local non-profits as soon as he recovers and is in good health.
While Daniel does have health insurance, many transplant expenses are surprisingly not covered, such as monthly anti-rejection medications he will need to take for the rest of his life. Our family has been told to anticipate thousands of dollars per month in medications alone.
Donations to Help Hope Live can help ease the financial burden of a transplant and allow Daniel to focus on a healthy recovery and a long life ahead that will let him see his grandbabies grow.
Family and friends of Daniel Avina are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Daniel has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you for your support!
My dad had a successful liver transplant surgery last night into the morning. We are extremely grateful for everyone's prayers and positive energy. He is now recovering in the ICU.
Our thoughts are with the family that lost their loved one yesterday and we thank them for making the amazing decision of becoming an organ donor. The impact they have made on our family and those of other donor recipients is beyond words. They have truly given us an amazing gift and they will forever be in our hearts. ❤
If you aren't a registered donor, I urge to please become one.
We have been told to prepare for a long and rough road to recovery. My dad will spend the next couple weeks under observation at Stanford. He will then need to relocate closer to Stanford for a few months to be able to continue post-care.
We will continue to update everyone and appreciate all of your support.
We thank everyone for their continued support. My dad is now at Stanford Medical Center, after waiting at SVMH for a few days while a bed opened up. He's been able to make nurses laugh and they said he was "quite a character". Yesterday was a positive day and I was happy to be a part of it. #DaybyDay
