Marcie is a loving mother, and wife, and has a strong love for animals. Her two sons, daughter and husband love spending time with her riding horses in the mountains around Cody Wyoming. Marcie has worked as a para-educator with special needs children in the past 8 years, which has allowed her to provide assistance to struggling students. Her life changed when she was hospitalized because she had pneumonia.

In 2019, after a long process Marcie was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease. In 2021, Marcie’s condition deteriorated. She visited a specialist at the University of Utah and learned that her lungs had been damaged, irreversibly. The specialist was also worried because Marcie’s weight was decreasing rapidly. She had a second condition called “Small Airway Disease” that makes it even harder to breathe. Combining these factors made the disease life threatening. As a temporary treatment, Marcie was prescribed other medications and oxygen to help her breathe, however, the only cure for her condition is a lung transplant.

Just thought I’d share an update… Marcie finally moved down to Utah this last weekend, so I can live within an hour of the hospital and have officially been placed on the UNOS transplant list as of Monday, March 21st. She is so happy to be listed and ready for the next step in this journey! It’s not going to easy for her to being away from her husband, my kids, my family, my friends and work but through all your prayers she know she can stay strong and look for the horizon which will get her to where she want to be and that’s with a better life for her and my family. In her own words, "I’ll be able to be a better wife, a better mother, be more of a part of their sports and activities and just have a happier and healthier life with this surgery! Prayers that it won’t take too long for new, and I can begin healing and return home! Thanks for all your love and support!"
