Dad’s 9-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis has come to a critical point. Our dad (and “Tata” to Karina, Isaac, Shane, Seth, Jordan, Jayden and Tyler) is at the end stage of his lung disease and needs a transplant to survive. We’re asking family and friends to join us in raising funds for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help with critical expenses he will face immediately after surgery, including the cost of lodging near the hospital where he is required to stay for possibly 6 – 8 weeks following his discharge.
Dad has always been a hard worker and has lived a positive and productive life. Despite his health condition, he has never let his health challenges get in the way of helping out his family and friends. He hopes to see his grandkids grow up, and someday achieve his dream of traveling the United States with our mom. Dad’s positive attitude and lifestyle helped him avoid the inevitable for a long time, but now his lungs are only functioning at 24%, and he needs our help.
While Dad has health insurance, many transplant expenses are surprisingly not covered, such as the monthly anti-rejection medications he needs to take for the life of his new lung. Dad has been told to anticipate upwards of $5,000 per month just for medications alone.
Donations to Help Hope Live can help ease the financial burden of a transplant and allow Dad to focus on a healthy recovery and a long life ahead with our family. Please consider making a donation to help our father.
We, the family and friends of Robert Casarez Sr. are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live in honor of Dad, to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
We chose to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the GIVE button. And please share Dad’s page on your social media.
