I want to first thank you all for coming to my fundraising website. Please feel free to check it all out!
My story began two years ago when I turned 23, I was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disease called “Good Pastures Syndrome”. Because of this disease my lungs are forever scarred and my kidneys are destroyed. I am in desperate need of a transplant and I am praying we find the right candidate to be a donor.
I spend a lot of time in the hospital, and I’ve been through everything from this disease to pulmonary embolisms caused by it. I am anemic, and I have 3x a week dialysis treatments.
Written by Sandra, Sarah’s mom:
Dear Family and Friends,
A few years ago, my daughter Sarah was working with children at a residential treatment facility when she became ill and had to stop working. Soon after that, she was diagnosed with Good Pastures Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease that attacks the lungs and kidneys. This resulted in kidney failure.
Since then, Sarah has been on dialysis three days a week. This is keeping her alive. Sarah has struggled through many medical complications and hospitalizations and at 25 years old, a kidney transplant is her only chance of a long and healthy life. Through all of this, Sarah’s determination and fight for life is an inspiration to all of us.
Currently, Sarah is on the kidney transplant list at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle and donors are being screened to find a match. She is hoping to find a living donor soon. Transplants are extremely expensive and costs can be devastating. Thankfully Sarah has Medicare that will cover the transplant itself. However, many medical needs are not covered and must be paid out of pocket. We anticipate substantial uninsured costs such as lifelong immunosuppressant medications, travel to and from the center, and relocation expenses at the time of the transplant.
To help with such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Sarah’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. You can help make a difference in Sarah’s life. Please consider a contribution.
Thank you for any help you can give. Your financial gifts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Sandra Johnson

I want to say thankyou to all those people who donated to sarahs fundraiser. It will be a tremendous help during her transplant, which is scheduled for march 4th, 2014. I also want to thank her donor which is why the transplant is possible. I pray that the transplant will be successful, and i will be there to help sarah during this process. I love you sarah, mom.
