He gives his whole heart to his community and the children who live in it, but after several years of managing Congestive Heart Failure he now needs a life-saving heart transplant. His kind, generous and loving heart has failed and currently is relying on a mechanical heart pump to provide his body and vital organs the oxygen they need to sustain life.
Tom has been hospitalized for the last month and will not be able to safely leave the hospital until he receives the gift of a new heart. He has been unable to work due to the severity of his illness and will not be able to immediately return to work post-transplant, if at all. He will have to undergo extensive surgery and rehabilitation to regain strength lost over the last month. After the transplant, Tom will have follow up appointments in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at least weekly to monitor how his body is reacting to his new gift. He will also have to take immunosuppressant and other medication for the rest of his life to ensure his body does not reject the new heart.
All of these expenses add up quickly, so we are asking for your help with transplant expenses that his health insurance does not cover! The most important thing to Tom is to be able to recover fully and use this new gift as an opportunity to continue to impact children’s lives throughout the community. He has given so much of himself to so many throughout the years, so let’s join together and show him our support!
Tom has chosen the Help Hope Live foundation because when all of his transplant expenses are paid, the foundation will disperse left over funds to other organ transplant recipients in need. Even in the hardest of times while he fights for his life, he provides another example of selflessness, like he has displayed throughout his entire life.
Family and friends of Thomas Findley are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Thomas has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
