I was a happy and healthy person until I heard the devastating news in August 2019 that I was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). In the same year, my mother also received a kidney transplant. It was the happiest and saddest year for me. Life is unpredictable. When the doctors said I have ESRD, my whole life fell apart; it was difficult to digest the news. The doctor said I needed to start dialysis soon and put me on the transplant waiting list. I began dialysis in December 2019 three times a week; since then, I have been on dialysis and on the waiting list. Since I started dialysis, it has affected my quality of life. I was always tired and became unproductive.
My health prevented me from being an active husband and providing for my father. Before this happened, I had lots of energy, and I was an energetic person. I used to play soccer, volleyball, and play drums in church. I lived an active life until this happened. I am looking forward to resume the things I enjoy once I am healthy.
I am looking forward to receiving a transplant that will free me from dialysis and lead a more normal life. I want nothing more than to be healthy, so I can be more active, help others, and have more quality time with my family and friends and most importantly live longer; But right now, I need your help.
I was the only person who was working in the family. After I stopped working, my wife started working. Now she is the breadwinner of the family. I have two sons, and a little princess and my wife works twelve hours. My parents help with kids when my wife goes to work, and I go for dialysis. It has been a hardship with finance. My wife works overtime to have enough money to pay hospital bills, buy food, pay copay for medication, purchase school supplies, pay the mortgage, and so on. We were managing somehow but it’s getting tough as the treatment is wearing me down and I don’t have any donor yet.
I am coming in front of all of you in the hope that the community will help me go through these hard times. Please help me restore my life and be the person you all know me to be in the past: energetic, friendly, caring, giving, and hard-working.
Thank you for reading my story!!
