Kyler is the happiest and most affectionate little guy you will ever meet. He lights up every room he enters and brings us so much joy. He loves to cuddle, play and is such a jokester. We just want him to be able to finally walk, communicate, and eat just like any other boy his age.
Kyler is almost four and was born a completely normal child with stellar APGAR scores at birth, who was meeting all of his milestones. After the first few months of his life, we started to notice certain things that Kyler would do that we had never seen other babies do before. After many different doctors’ appointments, it was apparent that Kyler was experiencing signs of a neurological injury/disorder and he was diagnosed as such. Kyler then stopped meeting his milestones, was labeled as Global Developmentally Delayed and Failure to Thrive.
In order to get him the therapies he desperately needed, we had to accept an Autism diagnosis, but we have been told repeatedly by medical professionals that Kyler’s disabilities signal a much bigger problem than that. Unfortunately, shortly after Kyler’s neurological symptoms became apparent, we learned that we were also living in Marine Corps base housing that was riddled with black mold. Kyler’s immune system was destroyed, and testing showed that he had no immunity built up to fight any illness. We made the decision to move to Texas after my husband was Medically Retired from the Marine Corps due to being combat wounded and have been on the difficult journey to find the right doctors, diagnosis and treatments to help our sweet boy ever since.
The donations raised will be used for everything that Tricare doesn’t cover.
