In 2019, I suffered a heart attack and a cardiac arrest that led to an induced coma for 17 days.
Miraculously, I was able to recover. But last year things started to change. I was diagnosed with heart failure and a life expectancy of only 5 years. It was a difficult moment for my family and for me.
In September, I had another blockage in one of my arteries and the doctors had to place another stent, but my heart failure became even worse.
Luckily, a great team of doctors at UCSF approved me for a heart transplant!
This gives my family and my hope for the future.
But with that hope comes concern: I am the primary provider for my home, and we will have to cover medication, housing, transportation, medical co-payments, and at least 6 months during which I won’t be able to work.
I count on the good hearts out there to help me raise the funds necessary to go through this challenge. Help me live for my daughters. Help me get back to work. Help me continue to make a difference in the community.
***Family and friends of Manoela Vieira are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Manoela has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you for your support!
"Your donations to Help Hope Live have been instrumental in supporting me during my challenging journey.
It generously covered my living expenses while I was unable to work and has also taken care of the out-of-pocket costs for my treatments and medications before my transplant.
As I embark on my post-transplant recovery, I am fundraising to cover essential expenses. This includes medication co-pays, transportation, accommodation for my weekly treatments, consultations, and lab work. Additionally, I'm preparing for an upcoming three-month Heart Rehabilitation program.
Your support in this phase is crucial and deeply appreciated."
