My name is Robert Hosie, a 57-year-old man from Redding, California. I consider myself blessed to have my childhood sweetheart as my wife and our two amazing teen children by my side. However, I am currently facing a health challenge as I have end-stage COPD, and my lung function is at 15%.
Despite the difficult circumstances, I have been given a second chance at life through the incredible opportunity to receive a double lung transplant from UCSF. I am grateful that most, if not all, of my hospital costs are covered, but there are some significant expenses that we need help with.
During my recovery from the surgery, my family will need to stay near UCSF for 2 to 4 weeks. Additionally, there is a 6 to 8 week aftercare period where we must be within 30 minutes of the hospital. This situation presents a financial burden as we need to temporarily relocate our family 220 miles away to San Francisco while also maintaining our rented home in Redding.
Unfortunately, these unexpected costs are beyond our limited resources, and we are seeking any assistance possible to make this challenging time a little more manageable. Your support and help would be immensely appreciated as we navigate through this critical period in our lives. Thank you for considering our situation.
Robert has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
