Mia is a identical twin that suffered a birth injury called hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. During the birth or shortly after Mia lacked oxygen to her brain that cause this injury. Because of her HIE it caused several problems like not being able to breath on her own. She got a tracheostomy when she was two months old. Another problem HIE causes is feeding issues. In Mia’s case she doesn’t have a suck or swallow reflux which caused her to get a feeding tube. She was released from the nicu after 71 days. The doctors didn’t expect her to live long but she proved everyone wrong. Today she is 3 years old and such a fighter! She has quadriplegic cerebral palsy so she doesn’t walk. We are raising money for therapy’s. Mia has several costs.
Mia has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors.
