Andrea “Andie” Keller was born to Amelia Keller and Eddie Bridges joining her three sisters at their family home in Raymond, Washington. Andrea spent most of her life in Raymond and moved to Olympia, WA for college where she now resides. Diagnosed at age twelve with juvenile diabetes she has been insulin dependent ever since. Since receiving a diagnosis of renal failure, she has been doing peritoneal dialysis at home four times a day/seven days a week while maintaining full time employment at the Washington State Department of Health.

Although you would never know it by the positive attitude she keeps, the last few years have been very trying for Andie. Many complications from diabetes are attacking her body. She suffers from diabetic neuropathy and retinopathy that attacks the nerve endings in the body tissue. She also has a stomach disorder that interferes with her eating and digestion, often causing nausea and vomiting landing Andie in the hospital quite often for weeks at a time. Although often she is fatigued, she still has many sleepless nights. After undergoing a comprehensive medical evaluation, Andie has been placed on the kidney/pancreas transplant list at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA.

Hello everyone! By now most of you know that I received my kidney/pancreas transplant 2/10/2016!! The surgery went awesome and I am recovering nicely :-) I have to stay in Seattle for about a month so I can be close to the hospital.

I am already feeling better than I was prior to the transplant -- no more insulin or dialysis. It is a true miracle! Please continue to pray for me and that my new organs are happy in their new home and my body accepts them as if they belong to me! Please also keep the family of my donor in your thoughts and prayers, I am so grateful for this gift of life. I hope to meet the donors family someday to express my gratitude.

This has most definitely changed my life and I feel so blessed. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be able to stop taking a couple of the meds I am on. I currently take 32 pills in the morning and 15 at night. Hopefully we can get the morning down to 28 pills and evening to 12. Anyway, I just wanted to share my update with you all :-) while you are on my page, please sign my guest book!
