In December of 1996, just two weeks after the birth of his only son, Herb was diagnosed with Testicular cancer. He began chemotherapy treatment in 1997. A decade later, Herb was stricken with a case of Bell’s Palsy in 2009. Then In 2021 he was diagnosed with kidney and liver failure and began dialysis 3x a week that September.
Professionally, Herb is a veteran of the US Navy, a former member of the 124 OKC Union of Sheetmetal Workers, and a former Chick-Fil-A Director.
In his personal life, Herb is a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle, corgi dad, salsa gardener, grill master, and motorcycle enthusiast.
Herb has been approved for a kidney transplant, and after months of waiting a potential living donor has been found. However, there are numerous expenses that are not covered by insurance.
He is currently having dialysis treatments 3x a week at a treatment center. Not only is he unable to work and cover these expenses, but the time spent on travel and dialysis also takes away from the time he can spend with family and friends doing the activities he loves. Herb is living for treatments, and missing out on life.
To help with this financial burden not covered by insurance, a fundraising campaign in Herb’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for almost 40 years. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live, and administered for illness-related expenses only.
Your donations will help in many ways including medications, treatments, and copayments. The relief this will bring to Herb and his family is invaluable, as these medications will be required for the rest of his life.
Donations to Help Hope Live can help ease the financial burden faced by the family and allow Herb and his wife to once again enjoy life with their children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends of Herb Harless are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Herb has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
