*In Aug of 2022 I was sent to UPMC Pittsburg for Lung transplant evaluation. I was given a list of items to complete to be considered for lung transplant. Well, I DID IT. I lost over 60lbs, completed all the necessary health maintenance requirements. As of June 2023 I am OFFICIALLY on the list!
I am not done writing my story in life. My journey is nowhere near over. I have so many more chapters to write and so many more places to go. I want to leave my foot print, my joy, my laughter and whatever advice I can share with others.
With the help of others I can continue to watch my grandchildren grow up and watch my children become grandparents themselves and continue in their journey. As well as finish writing my own story.
About two years ago my health took a drastic turn for the worse. I had been intubated multiple times over 2019-2021, that in November of 2021 I died multiple times and came back fighting. I became so ill a trach became necessary to keep me alive and breathing. Through hard work and rehab I was able to maintain my independence (just at a slower pace) I am able to drive, shop for myself. I am still very involved with my family as well.
I have stage 4 COPD and this is the final stage. Despite my diagnose I have always lived a very positive and productive life. At this time I need help to cover extra costs during my double lung transplant, so that I can continue to live a long and health life. My two daughters will be caring for me after the transplant and we will need help with housing post-transplant. My insurance does not cover all medical expenses associated with Transplant. After transplant I will have to relocate to Pittsburg for about 3 months so I can be close to my health care providers. Having help with housing, gas and tolls will be such a relief so that I may focus on my recovery and not be a financial burden on my family.
I appreciate you taking the time to listen to my story. Thank you for the support!
