Family and friends of Kevin Schwartz are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Kevin has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

So, I’ve been holding off on posting this but we need more prayers so here it goes.

Kevin got a call on Saturday, September 17th, that he needed to get to Temole University Hospital. They had a heart and kidney match for him and we needed to be there in a 2 hour time frame. So many emotions for all of us. Pray for the donor and family for their loss and sacrifice. Pray for the heart and kidney transplant team and their expert skills. Pray for Kevin that he gets through all of this and has a second shot at life.

Transplant surgery went very well and his kidney and heart are doing great. Kevin was on a lot of sedation and had some issues with oxygen and getting off of the ventilator. At one point he was put back on because he just wasn’t breathing enough on his own. He had a lot of different painkillers and sedatives over the past almost 3 weeks. It’s been very rough on him but he is slowly getting better. Tonight he moved from the ICU floor to a step down unit. He still isn’t eating solid foods and his memory is not totally back yet but we are hopeful and we are praying that things keep getting better.

Any prayers are gratefully appreciated. I am reaching out on Facebook tonight to try and get some more from all of my friends and family that may not know yet. I’m sorry I haven’t shared. I just wasn’t really ready yet but I do know that God is good and anything is possible through prayer. Thank you so much. Love you all. ♥️♥️
