Ronny Kusiak suffered a spinal cord injury in 2007 as the result of a hunting accident. No longer able to milk cows as a paraplegic, Ronny continued to fulfill his love for farming after his life-changing injury by switching to beef cattle and growing crops using a modified tractor.
However this past July, Ronny and his wife, Suzi, lost their home and shop due to an electrical fire that started overnight in the garage. Thank the Lord, everyone made it out safely. In fact, when Suzi got outside, Ronny was nowhere to be found, so she began yelling for him; moments later he came driving up, in said tractor, which he had gone in the back of the garage to rescue from the flames.
Unfortunately, the home they lost was a family heirloom- Ronny bought it from his father, who had bought it from his father, who was an immigrant from Poland. But on the positive side, Ronny and Suzi are now able to rebuild it as a handicap accessible home. After Ronny was paralyzed, they were largely unable to make any modifications to their old home due to the sheer cost of renovation. Although they added a ramp and changed a door, Ronny was living in a home that was incredibly inaccessible to him. Losing a home is tragic, yet they trust in God and know that from the ashes will come something wonderful.
To help with the financial burden of Ronny’s uninsured expenses and cost of building a handicap accessible home, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the North-Central Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. Please, consider a donation.

Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity. It is critical to the overall success of this endeavor to rebuild from ashes, a home that will change Ronny’s life. If we all work together and with God’s grace, we can make Ronny’s future much brighter.
With sincere gratitude,
Megan Mae Kusiak (Ronny’s daughter)
