As many of you know, for the past several years my husband, Wes, has been courageously battling end-stage renal disease. He has been on dialysis– three days per week, four hours each day for the last five years. Although dialysis is keeping him alive, his quality of life is poor as he cannot work or enjoy his family. A kidney transplant is his only chance for a healthy life.

Wes has completed his medical evaluation at Intermountain Medical Center. However funding the life-saving operation is a monumental task. Even with insurance, Wes will have many uninsured, transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel and temporary relocation near to the transplant center and the costly immunosuppressant medications that he will need to take for the rest of his life (estimated right now to be between $20,000 and $40,000). In order to be placed on the active transplant waiting list, we must first raise $15,000 – a challenge we cannot meet alone.

Hi Wes, so sad to hear you have had health problems. I will love to help but am out of town at the moment and can help when I get back home. You have a lovely family. God bless and you will hear from me next week. Your old friend from Maywood, Karen Boudreaux Rozum
