My story of transplant begins back in 2018…

when I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis after a number of doctor visits and tests due to noticable shortness of breath. Prior to this, I was always an active and busy guy. I was a tile setter and had developed a good reputation for quality work and good customer relations.
This disease caught up with me and by the summer of 2019, it was affecting my ability to do my work. So we began to re-prioritize our life and decided to make the move to Arizona full time. We sold our home in Minnesota in 2020 and moved to our winter home near Casa Grande Arizona.
I began working with Banner University Medical Center in Tucson for my IPF. The lung transplant center is one of the top in the country. My transplant team guided me through the entire process and this past summer of 2022 I went through the evaluation process for lung transplant. I was approved and was listed on the transplant list on September 16th. After just a few weeks and one dry run, I received my transplant back on October 9th 2022.
It was a successful operation and I continue to feel better every day.
All my life I have been the type of person who was willing to jump in and help out wherever I saw the need. I never really thought I would someday be on the other side of the street. But here I am and that is the reason for this fundraiser.
The continued medical expenses and insurance deductible are adding up and if you can find it in your heart to help out, I’d really appreciate it.

Six months update from Tom: Happy Easter everyone! What a great day to celebrate our Savior! And a great day to celebrate Six months of recovery from my transplant! I am so blessed to have such great people in my life. I want to thank all of you who sent cards and well wishes! Also to those who donated to help with my medical expenses. This has shown me the value of true friends:)

My recovery continues to be amazing! I have been getting good reports from the Doctor's and just this week I got back to riding my bike. Small steps but a big deal none the less!

The team of medical professionals that I have are just the best I could have hoped for. They are very attentive to my questions and are continually monitoring my lab results for any changes in my blood work.

I am hoping to be able to get back back to Minnesota this summer. It would be nice to see friends and family!

Lastly I want to thank my lovely wife Colleen for the endless amount of love and care she has given me over this time. I wouldn't have made it without you hon!

Today, Feb 19th has been 20 weeks since my transplant. I continue to feel better every day and now my visits to the clinic are getting to be less and less.

I want to thank all of you that have donated. It definitely helps out with the medical expenses and insurance deductible.

I will keep you updated on here and you can always give me a call. God bless you all:)
