My name is Tammy, my health took a terrible turn in October, 2020. I was admitted into the ICU, doctors telling my family that they did not know if I would make it. I spent Thanksgiving that year in the hospital without my daughters. I was told that I needed to get my affairs in order, my diagnosis was end stage COPD/Emphysema. My only hope at a semi-normal life and being able to do normal activities of daily living was to have a double lung transplant.
I was referred to Duke University Hospital, and since then, have been accepted into their program. This program comes with quite a few different requirements: (1) having to relocate to the Durham area for 4-6 months, (2) you are obligated to do their pulmonary rehab program (pre & post transplant), (3) a mandatory fundraiser to help raise funds for your time while down there (medical necessities, housing, food, transportation, etc). The goal for my fundraiser is to raise $10,000-$15,000, with a $10,000 mandatory minimum. While at Duke I will require a full-time primary caregiver (one of my daughters), who will also have to give up her time and job to help care for me.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
Help me breath easy again – be able to walk, run, and play with my children and grandchildren again.
Thank you, Tammy.
My family and friends are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Tammy has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
