Stephanie’s long battle with liver disease had come to a critical point. The wife, mother of three, and daughter was in liver failure and needed a transplant to survive. On January 6-7, 2023, Stephanie received a liver organ transplant at UMass Memorial Medical Center, in Worcester, MA which ultimately saved her life. Even though she is forever grateful; prayers were answered, she and her family are now faced with high medical costs resulting from her surgery.
Stephanie’s story is a unique one because her journey with organ donation didn’t start with her own story of receiving, but in 2008, when she donated her kidney to save her stepfather’s life. She gave him the gift of life and 15 years later her dad is still going strong! He has been able to continue being a dad, husband, father-in-law, brother, uncle, friend, and a much loved Grampi! (It is important to know that her kidney donation was not related to her liver disease and failure.)
We are asking family and friends to join us in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help with critical expenses associated with the transplant.
While Stephanie has medical insurance, it is through COBRA, causing it to be incredibly costly for her and her family to maintain their necessary medical coverage. Many transplant expenses are surprisingly not covered or only partially covered, such as the monthly anti-rejection medications she needs to take for the life of her new liver.
Through it all, Stephanie has lived a positive and productive life despite her chronic health condition. She has never let her health challenges get in the way of her dreams-from being a loving wife, mother of three, daughter, friend, and a teacher. Her positive attitude helped her avoid the inevitable for a long time. Donations to Help Hope Live can help ease the financial burden of the transplant and allow Stephanie to focus on a healthy recovery and a long life ahead.
Family and friends of Stephanie Boyd are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses or those that are partially covered associated with organ transplantation.
Stephanie has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
