Ray Kelley was a remodel carpenter in the Wichita Ks area for over 25 years. In the last six years of working, Ray started his own business. He is a master craftsman and artist. He loved the challenge of remodeling; especially kitchens and bathrooms.
In January 2017 Ray was hospitalized for pneumonia and influenza. While in the hospital, Ray had a stroke. He was treated quickly and thankfully, does not have any deficits from the stroke. Ray contracted another (3rd) lung infection during his hospital stay. The doctors diagnosed him with advanced COPD. He has been reliant upon oxygen to assist him with breathing since.
Ray’s doctors at the University of Colorado in Aurora, CO have determined that he is a good candidate for; and needs a double lung transplant. He has been traveling to Denver every three months for testing and evaluation. Transplant teams must make sure that a future recipient is still healthy enough to endure a transplant surgery.
Ray and his wife, Eleasha have been married over 25 years. She loves her job as a paraprofessional with Wichita Public Schools. Ray has three sons, Tim, Nate, and Joe. One daughter, Elizabeth, a senior in high school and two daughters-in-law, Amber and Emma. The greatest blessing in Ray’s life is being “Papa ” to his four grandsons and one granddaughter.
Ray’s family and friends are reaching out for help by asking for donations to help pay for Ray’s double lung transplant. Ray would love the opportunity to breathe again and teach others the art of remodeling. He longs to have a second chance to live and love with his family. We appreciate any donation, all prayers and good vibes. We are so grateful for anyone sharing his story.
Ray has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
