In the last decade, Erika has had over 40 surgeries–14 in this last year alone. These life-saving surgeries have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and the medication destroyed her teeth. They were cracking and falling out of her mouth.
She needed extensive periodontal surgery to replace her broken teeth.

On the eve of her 44th Birthday, April 6, Erika is battling hard to recover from emergency surgery on March 27 to remove scar tissue from her intestines, the result of numerous previous surgeries. She also overcame a potentially fatal case of sepsis caused by an infected intravenous line. She's currently on oxygen to help with surgically caused pleural effusion in her lungs and is being given nutrition through a tube directly into her digestive system. She's a fighter who wants to continue her mission of raising her daughter Ellie.

Thanks to you, Erika is halfway to her new permanent smile! Her broken and infected teeth have all been removed and she has her new temporary dentures in place. In July she'll get her new permanent implants and then her permanent teeth a few months later. This final procedure will cost $25,000 and that's why we're continuing to fundraise on her behalf.
