Katie Cashin was born on June 25th, 1997. She is the middle child with an older brother and younger sister. When Katie was young, she was diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis (TS). Thankfully, it did not affect her much while she was growing up. In 2019 she experienced her first pneumothorax (lung collapse) while attending UGA in Athens, GA. Her next pneumothorax occurred at the end of October 2022. That was when doctors told us that a lung transplant was in her future.

On January 25th, 2023 Katie had her third pneumothorax while at work. When she arrived at Mayo hospital she was told that a lung transplant was needed as soon as possible. Since being in the hospital she has had three additional lung collapses. Katie has shown exceptional patience and bravery while dealing with her ongoing health issues. The support Katie and her family have been given through friends, family, work, church and the Ponte Vedra community has been humbling.

Katie’s family and friends are partnering with the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation. Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses.
