My name is Beth Bilbro I am 50 years old! I need a new liver so I can spend my life with my family that I love so much! I have been placed on the liver transplant list at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fl. Whenever we get the call that a donor is available we will have 6 hours to get there and we live 5 hours away in Pensacola, Fl. So we will have to drop everything and go have my life saved. The transplant team says we need to plan to stay about 3 months in Gainesville while I recover from this major surgery. The surgery is so major that after the new liver is put in they only stitch up the skin until two days later they go back in and stitch the muscles up and make any adjustments needed. This is a scary surgery and I will need my family with me. We are required to have them there or we are not allowed on the transplant list. The financial hardship will be a big obstacle our family will face. We will have to find an apartment to rent for at least 3 months maybe longer depending how my recovery goes! Rent in Gainesville from the list the financial team gave us is about $1,800 a month. Not including electric, water, or deposit we may have as well. As well as gas, car payment, and groceries for myself and my family that will be taking care of me. Another thing we have to consider is furniture and medical supplies. We don’t currently have a vehicle that could transport our beds from Pensacola to Gainesville . While family could use air mattresses I will need an actual bed to be able to get up and down after a major surgery. Luckily insurance will cover my surgery and medicines but any other medical supplies we will have to purchase ourselves. If you are able to donate to help save my life no matter how small, we will be forever grateful. God will make a way and is a large part of our lives so we are putting all faith in him to guide us on these next steps. I have a son and a daughter, and 2 grandchildren. I want to watch them grow and build their families please help me to be able to do so. Thank you very much!!! God bless you !
