Sean is a 49 year old father, husband, and registered nurse. A Veteran of the United States Army, Sean proudly served his country for over 10 years as an army combat medic. After the military, Sean became an ICU registered nurse providing care for our community, saving countless lives, and comforting hundreds more over his 20 year career in nursing.
Sean was a critical member of the Waco ICU team during many community emergencies including the West Fertilizer Explosion, the Twin Peaks Shootings, and most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. Sean is well respected in the healthcare community for his skill, knowledge, and critical care experience.
Sean is a true American Hero.
Sean’s greatest joy has been his role as father to Logan, 24, Jackie, 27, and stepfather to Hannah, 23. Sean is a man of enormous generosity, with a kind soul, quick wit, and a contagious laugh! His impact on others is undeniable. Joy follows Sean.
Sean began his biggest battle on March 22, 2022 when he was diagnosed with advanced heart failure. Since Sean’s diagnosis, his heart has not regained the function it needs to support normal day to day activities. He is also unable to work full time. Sean has additional procedures planned, and his heart transplant pre-work up is also in progress.
The cost of heart procedures, advanced treatments, and heart transplant from pre-work up to post-care can be financially devastating for a family, even with insurance coverage. The impact of Sean’s medical expenses is increasing and he needs our help!
To help Sean and his family, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 40 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for medical-related expenses only. Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to directly pay or reimburse medical and related expenses.
Please donate to Help Hope Live in Sean’s honor today, and ask your friends and family to give, too! We would love to plan some fundraisers in Sean’s honor, also, so if you are able to help with that, please contact us.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.

Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. ~Hebrews 12:1-2
Hey Team Hudson, Sean is completing the remainder of his full transplant eval. This includes lots of testing and procedures over the next 6 weeks. Once completed, the transplant committee reviews, approves or requires more info/tests, and determines which status he will be listed under.
Sean returns to Plano/Dallas on Wednesday and also Friday this week. He will undergo a lung biopsy soon also. Thank you all for remaining in prayer along with us as Sean moves further in to this {complicated} process.
Most important to us, please be in prayer for our children.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God” John 14:1
Sean’s procedure in Plano was completed, and unfortunately, the team was unable to find the specific irregular beat (PVC) that initiates Sean’s cardiac arrest (vfib). Sean has “PVC initiated VFib” and the team was unable to perform a successful ablation. We knew going into this procedure that it could be very challenging. Sean will not be restarted on his anti-arrhythmia medicine which keeps him from being shocked by his internal defibrillator when his heart stops beating. The remaining option is to wait for the next vfib episode, allow Sean to be shocked, and initiate the team’s next plan at that time. As you can imagine, this was disappointing.
Ahead of Sean’s Plano procedure, he was admitted to the hospital a week prior for very low blood pressures. He continues to experience low blood pressure even with stopping/decreasing all his heart medications. We are working with his team closely to optimize his medications as much as he tolerates.
Sean’s transplant team is following him closely. His transplant case remains open, and his pre-work up is completed. Sean’s full transplant evaluation has not proceeded yet. Sean has additional tests planned in the upcoming weeks/months.Our greatest hope is for a miracle and Sean can be healed completely! In the meantime. we are trusting Sean’s transplant team for guidance on this unfamiliar path.
This has been a roller coaster of emotion that continues to test our strength and endurance daily. But, with God, all things are possible! We know our family is covered because we’ve felt His blessings. On the absolute worst days, we made it through by the Grace of God. Sean is so special, and I know God intends to use his voice in special ways!
We need your prayers. And we thank you for continuing to support Sean, and our family.
Sean will be admitted in Plano on 6/15. He’ll have tests and lines inserted to monitor his heart also that day. The ventricular ablation to target his recurring vfib will begin at 7am on 6/16. The team will also place him on the cardiac pump at that time. His rhythm medicine that has to be discontinued 4 weeks before the procedure has been stopped now.
Y’all, Sean is such an inspiration. He’s the strongest man I’ve ever met. There is an amazing plan in motion for him and God’s covering him daily. God promises to never leave or forsake us, and in that we know the journey may not be easy. But with Him, all things are possible.
We need your prayers over the next weeks and into Sean’s surgery. Our anxieties come and go through the days. We work hard to walk by faith, and trust in His eternal plan. Most days we do well! Thank you for praying specifically for the fears God knows inside our hearts, for comfort for our children, for restful sleep at Hudson Hideaway, and for a sustainable path spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially.
We’re preparing for whatever may come, and expecting the best. Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers!
Hi friends, Sean will be having a big procedure in Plano soon to try and fix the heart rhythms that cause his heart to stop. These rhythms cause his defibrillator to shock him to restart his heart. The shocks are painful for him, and we hope this procedure will provide him relief. Sean will go on a temporary heart pump also during that time, which will help his heart pump enough blood to his body.
Sean’s recent test results were not what we hoped for, but we have faith in God’s plan. Once we know the date of his procedure we will update again.
With gratitude ~ The Hudson Family
