A little History on why I need a kidney transplant. I have PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) which is a genetic disorder (passed from and affected parent my mother) it causes many fluid-filled cysts to grow in your kidneys causing function decline. It has caused my kidneys to enlarge and lose function to the point of needing a Transplant. A typical kidney is the size of your fist my have grown to 5 times that size There is no cure for PKD except get a transplant or do dialysis.

11/30/23 I received my new Kidney from my sister. Things are going good for the both of us. I’m trying to get used to all the medication but the kidney is working!
What can we say about todays news! EXCITMENT
“Hi Tracy!
I have exciting news! We just got out of our Selection Committee meeting and it was agreed upon by the team that we can move forward with your donation!!”
Yes my rock is a match and we are looking at a October 5th surgery date! I love you so much Tracy! #mykidneytransplantjourney Thank you everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers!
#kidneytransplantjourney: My sister just had her last two scans today. We are waiting for those results which could be early next week Please keep her in your thoughts. Also thank you again to those that have donated. You are all amazing.
I wanted to give a update on what is going on. I have been listed on the transplant list for over a year now. Im currently listed with UVM of Vermont. My sister Tracy has been going through all the test to see if she can donate as of right now things are great for her, We are waiting for a genetic test and a very invasive CT to be done. The genetic test is to determine if she actually carries the PKD gene (which would not be good if she does) it would mean I would have to either wait longer for a deceased donor, risk being but on dialysis or get another living donor. At the current time my body is letting me know I'm not healthy. I struggle every day and push myself since I don't want this disease to control me more then it already has. It has already taken so much of me now. I get tired very easily I get shortness of breath. I also have been getting a lot of concentration issues (brain fog) I'm starting to swell in the ankles and under the eyes. My legs get such cramps at night the next day it feels like a ran a marathon. I love to hike but that has really slowed down my it takes me forever just to do the tiniest hill. Yes I might look ok on the outside. But a lot has changed in the last year. I get pain from the cysts that rub against ribs or other organs. My blood work has been going down along with my kidney functions each month. Prayers and positive vibes would be appreciated for my Sister and myself.

My father-in-law passed away from PSK some years after receiving a kidney donation from his wife. There is always the chance my husband, brothers-in-law or son may be diagnosed. Prayers for the surgeries, recovery, and for a long life ahead!
