Thanks to special funding from partners like our friends at the Flyers Alumni Association and the Rosenblatt Foundation, Help Hope Live has gifted dozens of adaptive bikes to kids with special mobility needs—activating their ability to enjoy a childhood rite of passage with family and friends.
Beyond joy, these specialized bikes enhance mobility and health while fueling freedom and independence.
While adaptive bikes are game-changing sources of support for children with disabilities and their families, insurance typically refuses to cover the cost. With a price tag of $5,000 or more, purchasing an adaptive bike out of pocket is not possible for most families.
With your help, we can change that! Please consider a tax-deductible donation to support our ongoing initiative to connect kids with the specialized equipment they need to heal, live, thrive, and ride among their peers.
With your continued support, hope is always in motion.
A Bike for Dawson
Our latest bike recipient, Dawson, 4, is truly “one in a million,” according to his mom. He recently underwent a challenging 5½-hour surgery to remove a tumor from his spinal cord, which had been causing him significant pain and mobility issues. Thankfully, the tumor was benign! However, Dawson faced extensive therapy to relearn how to walk and perform basic tasks again.
During his 42-day stay at the hospital, Dawson had the opportunity to try out an adaptive bike Help Hope Live donated to Nemours Children’s Hospital. “At first we weren’t sure he would be able to handle it,” his mom shared. “Come to find out he could pedal the bike around the gym by himself like he could before with his Spider-Man bike at home!”
Thanks to mom’s application to Help Hope Live’s Adaptive Bike Fund, Dawson will soon get to enjoy this freedom of play at home with a bike designed specifically for his unique abilities by our friends at Freedom Concepts.
“Being able to have this bike will help him in many ways: it will help him gain strength in his legs, thighs, and ankles; it will give him confidence; and (the biggest thing) it will give him some normalcy. We take family walks in our development on spring evenings and summer days. It's something we enjoy as a family. Now, Dawson can ride alongside us again.”
On Saturday, March 8, Help Hope Live presented an adaptive bike at the Abilities Expo Los Angeles to a 12-year-old Santa Monica girl who lost all her belongings in the Palisades fires.
We have multiple Every Child Deserves a Bike giveaways planned for fall 2024! Meet some of these special kids at: https://helphopelive.org/event/adaptive-bike-giveaways-this-autumn/
Thanks to the generosity of the Rosenblatt Foundation, Help Hope Live will present a customized adaptive bike to 12-year-old Favio on Saturday, September 7 at the Phoenix Abilities Expo:

On Monday, July 8, the Flyers Alumni Association will partner up with Help Hope Live to gift a customized adaptive bike to a local child with disabilities through our Every Child Deserves a Bike partnership.
12-year-old Sabina Heim is living with a congenital disorder that impacts her mobility. She uses a wheelchair and posterior walker, and she participates in weekly therapy sessions to help maintain her health.

During Help Hope Live's Hope Travels 5K on Sunday, May 19, we had the opportunity to gift a customized adaptive bike to 8-year-old Khuwaylid Seeney and his family. Khuwaylid is a local student living with cerebral palsy resulting from hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy at birth.
Like so many kids with disabilities, Khuwaylid loves to move, connect, and keep up with his siblings—but maintaining physical mobility can be a challenge.
As his mom explained: “This bike will give him that input to his legs that he absolutely loves while also giving him inclusion to just be a kid and ride his bike with his siblings.”
This bike was made possible thanks to a generous donation to Help Hope Live from the Esther and Pedro Rosenblatt Foundation.
