Many of you know my son, Nathan Bartz. As some of you may already know, 15 years ago, Nathan was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Very quickly this disease killed Nathan’s kidneys and he was put on dialysis to live. Unfortunately, due to his declining health he has been unable to work and his life has revolved around dialysis, doctor appointments and repeat hospitalizations.
Nathan’s doctors at Sacred Heart Medical Center told us that his only option is a life-saving kidney transplant. We have great news to share with you! On May 15th Nathan received his transplant! Nathan is doing great and is now able to look forward to going back to work and doing many of the things he was not able to do for so long and can now live his life to the fullest.
This brings us to the purpose of this letter. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these expenses are co-pays, deductibles, travel to the transplant center, and relocation at the time of transplant. In addition Nathan will be on a life-time of very expensive anti-rejection medications which he will need to cover. This is where your help is needed.
A fundraising campaign in Nathan’s honor has been established with the HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held in Northwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

Nathan is in need of another hearing aid. He replaced one so far but because his hearing was damaged by a stroke from dialysis he is in need of another one for his other ear. This money helps him in that quest.
Transplant
Nathan had his transplant on the 16th of May 2013. He is home now and is doing very well. Lots of time healing but is feeling better every day and is so excited to get on with his new life.
