Ligia’s life had been a journey of love, sacrifice, and strength. As a mother of two and a doting grandmother to a little granddaughter, she had always put her family first. Her days were filled with laughter, hugs, and moments of joy as she watched her family grow and flourish.
However, fate had a different plan for Ligia. One day, she was diagnosed with a severe lung condition that slowly robbed her of her breath and vitality. Her family watched helplessly as she struggled to perform even the simplest of tasks, and her once vibrant spirit began to fade. As the condition worsened, Ligia’s only hope for survival was a lung transplant.
The days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months. Ligia’s health continued to decline, and the weight of her illness bore heavily on her family’s hearts. They tried to stay strong for her, but the fear of losing their beloved wife, mother and grandmother was an ever-present shadow.
Then, just when it seemed like all hope was lost, a miracle happened. A suitable lung donor was found, and the possibility of a life-saving transplant became a reality. Ligia’s family held their breath as she underwent the delicate surgery, praying for her recovery.
While this life-saving transplant has given us immense hope, it also brought with it unexpected and significant expenses. The journey has been full of financial hardships, including lodging, travel, food, and crucial anti-rejection medication that is unfortunately not covered all by her insurance. We were already financially strained, and our family savings have been entirely depleted due to this unforeseen medical crisis.
As Ligia’s caregiver and husband, it has also become impossible for me to continue working, even remotely, as her care demands my full attention and support. We are humbly seeking your help to ensure that Ligia can overcome these financial obstacles and focus solely on her recovery and healing.
During this challenging time, the hospital recommended the “Help Hope Live” foundation as a source of assistance to raise funds.
