My journey begins when my kidney doctor referred me to Mayo for an evaluation for a Kidney transplant. You see, due to my diabetes and a rare family kidney disease, my kidneys took a drastic turn and I needed a new one in order to keep living.
My evaluation went smoothly, my case was presented to the committee at Mayo to be placed on the donor list. I was accepted! That same day, June 28th,2023. I also received a call letting me know that I was a candidate for an end of care living kidney recipient. Two days later it was confirmed, pre-ops were scheduled, and the transplant surgery was scheduled. Within 10 days of that call I had a new kidney!
Since that transplant I have had two admittances to the Mayo hospital for an infection that finally was found and treated.
The whole process from the beginning to now was so much quicker than I thought it would be.
This is why I am coming to you for your help. By donating you will allow Mindy to focus on her recovery.
Thank you for your support!
Life after a kidney transplant can be very rewarding and still challenging. The rewarding part is being able to see life fully engaged with loved ones. Being able to be part of a community that supported your journey. The life you once had and now can still have because you have hope. The challenges are having to choose your crowds. The questions I ask myself is how can I navigate this crowd or large group and still protect myself from deadly outcomes. Catching a bug that may not affect others the way it can affect my body.Yes, life after a kidney transplant can be very rewarding and challenging.Join me as we look forward to the holidays!
Hi,I have had a great year so far. I have cleared my one year testing and two months later I completed a 5k. Life is good. I do hope that in the giving season you will consider a tax deductible contribution.Thank you,
I hit my 6 months since my kidney donation on January 12th. Each day is a blessing and I'm glad this was an option for me. I have been doing long walks to get back all the muscle I lost during my recovery. Although this is a slow healing process I have found that the body is a miracle worker in and of itself.
If you are still looking for a tax deduction this is a great place to start. So many have financial needs and I am one of them. With the medical bills and the pharmacy co-pays it starts really stacking up. Won't you donate today?
