For those who are new here, Sean was hit by a car 3/20, he broke his neck at C2, both ankles, three fractures on his skull, fractured his orbital bone, and also had severe swelling on the brain for 7-10 days. He sadly was between jobs so he did not have personal health insurance and was placed on state benefits. Due to the severity of his injury, he has had a really tough road, paired with state benefits, he has had a lot of set backs. Currently he is back in ICU fighting several infections. We haven’t been given a discharge date and don’t really know where he will be discharge to yet, but we will keep everyone updated.
He was classified as a C2 incomplete but later switched to a C1 complete. We are holding onto hope that he is still technically an “incomplete” because when I pull/pinch his fingers he is able to tell me which one about 80% of the time. This doesn’t mean he will gain function but it means there is a chance! “So you’re saying there’s a chance?!” LOL! If you know where that quote is from you might be an old lady like me!
Sean has been put through some serious tests both mental and physical but he makes it through every time. When he is feeling depressed with everything I remind him, “all these people didn’t bust their butt to save your life for nothing, they did it because you are worth it.” The different infections his body has battled could very easily be the last but each time he pulls through reminding us he’s a Grandinetti and his time isn’t up!
Hi Everyone!! Welcome to the new #SEANSTRONG page! Updates will be posted here from time to time (as well as my Facebook page) please feel free to save the website and check back often!
A couple months ago I turned off the donation feature on the GoFundMe page because I knew we were in the works of getting this up and running, if you are new here please go check out the original GoFundMe for updates over the last seven months.
If you are not familiar with Help Hope Live, they are a non-profit organization that works specifically with individuals with catastrophic illness, catastrophic injury, or implant. As most know, Sean falls under the catastrophic injury category. March 20, 2023 he was crossing the street and struck by a car. He broke his neck at C2 and is now a person with quadriplegia and on a ventilator. The funds raised through Help Hope Live are available for Sean's medical needs (which includes quality of life!). This will get rid of any headaches I have during tax season LOL!
We are working so hard to be able to bring Sean home and get him out of the nursing homes, one of the big ticket items we would need to make this possible is an accessible van. The money raised at his benefit in August was suppose to go towards a communication device but we have since learned we are able to get a really nice one covered by insurance so all of those funds will be added to our goal for a van! The first thing I want to do when he gets his van, take him to pick London up from school! He hasn't seen her outside of the hospital setting in over six months and he's looking forward to watching her block some balls at soccer on the weekends!
I have also created a TikTok (which I am not great at at all!) that I am using to get updates about his care to friends and family. I am also hoping to connect with others in the disabled community who can help us support him.
Thank you for being here and we look forward to sharing all things #SEANSTRONG with you!
Love, Michaelline (his sister!)
