Aug. 16, 2023 Our lives as we knew them changed forever! Cj a 31 year old, father of three and an amazing fiancé lost his ability to move 75 to 80 percent of his body. After many visits and some odd doctors later Cj was flown to the university hospital without any use of his body from nipple line down and later lost use in his hands also. Cj went into emergency surgery and we were informed that he had mssa osteomyelitis. After surgery no movement was improved and we are unsure at this time if he will gain it back. He has now been diagnosed with a level C6 complete spinal cord injury. We are 3 hospitals and nearly a month post surgery and unfortunately are finding the financial burden is much more than we can bear at the moment.
The last thing we ever wanted to do was ask for help but at this point it’s the only option we have. We are now facing so many uncovered injury related costs. Any and all funds will be going to support our medical expenses and related needs. We hope that using these funds for medical expenses will allow us to save so that we’ll be able to start a small business to give Cj any and all independence back that we can. And as time goes on we will continue to run updates as we are able. If you are unable to donate please send a prayer up! Each and every cent and prayer matters!!!

Just wanted to give a shout out to our 3 donors! We absolutely could not do it without the help we have been given. While we are in the swamp with buying a vehicle, it brightens our days and smiles just knowing someone out there is thinking of us! Thank you to each and everyone of you! Josh, Momo and anon! We can not thank you enough! Update: Fundraising has not been as expected but we won't stop till we get CJ what he needs to be able to put forth the effort to give back to our communities. First we need to purchase a vehicle to be customized for him, then its to find a accessible home. Cj is on SSI and does not make such, caregiver has been unpaid for a year and a half and is just now in the end process of getting paid. Needless to say life is hard out of a wheelchair but in a wheelchair if you do not have money when you get hurt good luck receiving help without putting fourth ten plus thousand dollars! Christmas is coming and we want more than anything to see our families! Thank you for the shares, contributions and prayers! Continued Care Update: CJ has been home for quite sometime now and going to doctors appointments but we are still having issues with transportation which makes anything hard for him. He currently has a procedure scheduled for 12/13/24 for a EGD so hopefully that will bring some answers. Also still waiting OT/PT referral to go through to his choice facility then we will be in much better shape!
Sorry for the long pause we had, We had a death in the family and needless to say things have not been easy. However, we are trying again to back at it. CJ will be getting his stint out in two weeks and next week he has another apt. All this week we have very important meetings that will potentially open up some doors God willing. So honestly just living day to day these days. Waiting for apts., fighting with transportation, attempting to get some fundraising going which mind you not is very hard also without transportation. ( We really need to get a vehicle for Cj) And trying to make some adaptations to the home. All the while waiting for his waiver for the paid caregiving program. Whew did I mention its been a little crazy lately! This is only a smidgen of what we are dealing with on the daily. BUT! Our 5 year old starts school next month!!!!
Things have been a bit crazy even a little more than expected, I am doing my best to get back to the regular updates! We will know much more in a couple of weeks once Cj see's the doctor. Keep us in your prayers on the 8th as he goes to get his stone out! Hope all is well and have a safe and blessed fourth of July holiday!
Hey yall! How was your week? Sorry we havent been on much, it has been a huge transition home as we are remodeling and starting our own projects here at home. Things are a bit busy and a whole lotta crazy! We are still in need of some items since we have transitioned home and we will be updating our amazon list soon. Until then please continue to share our pages! Summer time is flying us right by and we need your help to spread the word and get Cj a vehicle he is able to travel in! Feel free to message us today and find out how you can help! We also want to say thank you to each and everyone of you whom have donated their hard earned dollar and or their time! We are also in the greater Dayton, Oh area now if anyone has any ideas for future events please shoot us a message! Have a blessed weekend yall!
UPDATE: here is our unofficial wish list, we will continue to make changes as we see fit. Cj has accomplished so much in these last few weeks and is now requiring more skilled therapy equipment and sadly insurance just doesnt pay for everything you would think. Please give him a share and a like if you havent already! We are so ready for the next chapter ahead!

The joys of the morning!
Shew, this morning has been a rough one. Cj has had a stint in his kidney for a couple weeks now due to a larger stone he is unable to pass. He was supposed to already have it taken out but scheduling isnt working in our favor. So long story short, we woke up this morning and his urine bag was plumb full of blood. The doctors office is taking forever to let us know anything and now we are just sitting here waiting on them to give us our next step. So therapy today is shot but we will get back at it asap.
On a positive note, We had a very important zoom call today! It went great aside from my realizing Im older than dirt ( I still use pen and paper for my datebook). I definitely have a lot to learn!!! Aside from being Cj's sole caregiver I also need to be a business woman and marketing expert as well! Bare with us as we continue to learn and grow together.
Round 2 @ Rehab!
Well after months of fighting tooth and nail for Cj to qualify for the rehabilitation he needs, we finally got approved for another two weeks!!!
Cj had to go into surgery again, in order to place a stint in his kidney since he wasn't able to pass the stone. It was very minor and he did great having the stint placed. We go back in a couple weeks to have the stone and stint removed, in hopes that the infections are much less frequent. Luckily because this had to be done we were able to qualify for an additional two weeks at the impatient rehab, which is where I am writing you from today. We have been here about a week so far and Cj is making unbelievable strides! Cj is learning to use a slide board in order to assist with transfers, he is learning to make his new body work for him, he is adapting, he is growing, he is showing us all yet again that he is going to beat this! We truly believe that he will walk again! We have a long way there is no doubt about that and we are still in need of a accessible vehicle but we are striving each day to make the next needed step in the right direction. Cj also is in the process of developing his 5 year plan and planning to continue his dreams of starting his very own organization. We have a long way to go but we want to thank each and everyone of you whom have shared, liked, donated, prayed, helping hang flyers, make merch, reached out, been on our medical team, etc. We couldn't do it without yall!
Just wanted to shoot out a little update for everyone. CJ has returned home yet again from another week stay at the hospital over a MDRO UTI. A lot of people have continued to ask why do we need to raise money why doesn't his insurance cover what he needs. So i thought I would briefly explain for what its worth. We would like to get more of a customized bed for CJ one that moves up and down and has two sides to it preferably with temperature change options. We also desperately need a vehicle to get him around in and NO one and I mean NO ONE will cover the entire cost of a vehicle. They may help with accommodations to the vehicle but they will not provide the vehicle itself. Also these grants everyone keeps bringing up, while they are great. not everyone who applies actually gets it. We also have a another month before we can get everything settled with his insurance and stop paying out of pocket for everything. As for now we are paying out of pocket for everything. With that being said keep in mind the thousands it cost to go to rehab if insurance doesn't cover it. We are just very overwhelmed at the moment with the lack of funds for everything CJ needs.
Any who we are home now and doing ok, still awaiting his actually power chair and waiting for everything to switch over the states so we are able to be more independent financially. As of yesterday we also started looking for a place to rent!!! It has been very exciting to home hunt but it is also exhausting trying to find a place that is handicap accessible and affordable. Now days its like you get one or the other you never get both. We are also needing help passing out flyers, donations jars and solicitation packets so if that is something you don't mind to help with please reach out and let us know.
Hey yall, Just wanted to stop in and update everyone! We are now back in the greater Cincinnati area again!!! We are so blessed to be back. Some adjustments and a lot of hurry up and wait, since the move but we are doing ok. We are currently awaiting Cj's official custom built wheelchair which should be here any day now. Then following the arrival of his chair we will be doing lots more fundraising and starting to plan some events to raise funds for additional needs. We are looking to move into our own place very soon and also purchase a vehicle so we can get it customized for him as well. There is just so much going on its crazy but I just wanted to hop on and let everyone know WE ARE BACK!!!!
Well it's been a while since our last update and we wanted to let everyone know we are still home taking things day by day. We are planning to start some fundraising events very soon so stay tuned. We are currently trying to raise money for a accessible vehicle and more equipment that will help cj gain his independence back.
CJ is home! He had some great success in rehab, including using ElectroStim therapy, and was able to move a couple toes on one foot yesterday!
Unfortunately, the trip home came with some unexpected costs, too. We will need to get a lift chair and specialized bed for CJ, as well as the re-occurring costs of personal care items. In an attempt to give him as much independence as possible, we will be purchasing adaptive equipment, and even setting up a computer that is adapted to his abilities.
As our stretch goal, we really need to get a vehicle that can transport CJ and his wheelchair. He can’t wait to be able to spend time with his children!
As we move into the holiday season, please remember CJ, and that a gift to his campaign can improve the lives of his entire family.
We are off to Cincinnati, Ohio today!!!! Rehab has been a long time coming yall but today is the day!!! We are almost there
