Steve’s journey is one of resilience and hope. Steve is an honorably Discharged Army Veteran. At the age of 67, a former Caterpillar mechanic faces the challenging reality of advanced COPD which has left him unable to work. After enduring a battery of tests and evaluations, Steve has finally received the news that he has been listed for a double lung transplant. Living with COPD has been an arduous battle for Steve. Once an active and hardworking individual, he found himself gradually losing the ability to perform the tasks he once excelled at. Breathing became a struggle, and the simple joys of life seemed out of reach.
However, Steve’s spirit remains unwavering. He has a clear vision of what he wants to achieve after the transplant. Most importantly, he looks forward to chasing after his granddaughter, sharing in her youthful joy, and embarking on camping adventures. Steve’s dream also includes the exhilaration of snowmobiling and revving up his motorcycle once again. In recent times, Steve’s life has revolved around watching TV and using his computer. The great outdoors, once his sanctuary, has become a distant memory. Simple tasks have become unreachable challenges, necessitating assistance for even the most mundane activities. The path ahead is not without its obstacles. Steve will undergo a life-altering surgery that will keep him in the hospital for approximately one month. Furthermore, he and his support system will need to stay in the Boston area for another month after his discharge. The journey doesn’t end there; Steve will require lifelong medications, regular testing, and frequent visits to Massachusetts General Hospital from his home in New Hampshire. To make Steve’s dreams a reality and cover the extensive expenses associated with his lung transplant and post-operative care, the HopeHelpLive campaign has been initiated. The funds raised will go towards the surgery itself, the hospital stay, and the necessary medications and testing that will follow. With your support, Steve can look forward to a brighter future. He yearns to regain the quality of life he once enjoyed, surrounded by the activities and the people he loves. Your contribution can help him take those first steps towards a healthier, more fulfilling life. We hope you will consider joining us in this endeavor to give Steve the gift of a second chance at life. Steve’s story is one of hope and determination. Despite the challenges of COPD, he remains committed to rebuilding his life, pursuing his passions, and cherishing the moments with his loved ones. Your support in the HopeHelpLive campaign can make a world of difference in Steve’s life. The fundraising campaign aims to cover the extensive expenses associated with Steve’s lung transplant surgery and post-operative care, enabling him to regain his quality of life.
