This is my wife Charlotte, she has suffered from Chronic Lyme Disease since 2009. At only 22, she collapsed while at work. It would be two years before anyone could give her any answers on why. Twenty years of living with an evolving disability has taken more than her ability to walk, it has kept her from the passions of her life.Charlotte has a background in training marine mammals such as sea lions and polar bears! She loves the ocean and finding the connection between people and animals. Charlotte’s attention to detail in the people around her has blessed her with passionate friends and family.Living with constant fatigue, weakness and pain has prevented Charlotte from doing everyday things for herself, constantly having to ask for help. She has slowly lost the ability to walk more than a few feet and now relies on a power wheelchair. She misses being independent and volunteering in her community, usually helping animals. We hope, with the help of fundraising, to obtain a handicapped accessible van, enroll Charlotte in Equine therapy and provide the necessary care for her service dog Gabrielle to keep helping Charlotte every day.Since moving to Weatherford this past January, Charlotte has mostly only experienced Texas life from her bedroom. We hope with an accessible van she and Gabrielle will be able to venture out more easily and become an active member of the community she has loved from afar. We hope Equine therapy will help her muscles and allow for more good days. She hopes to become a regular part of her neighborhood ladies’ group and volunteer with the program that gave her Gabrielle! Please donate to Help Hope Live in Charlotte’s honor today, and ask your friends and family to give, too! We would love to plan some fundraisers too, so if you can help with that, please email Charlotte at [email protected]. Thank you for your generous support!Family and friends of CHARLOTTE SCHKURMAN are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Illness.
