Help Lynn Get Back to Work!
Lynn was working at a grocery store, doing a carryout for an older customer, when the hatch from that SUV smashed down on top of her head. She sustained a traumatic brain injury and has been unable to work since that day in 2019. She’s had an extensive array of cognitive, balance, speech, visual, sensory, etc. issues, extreme fatigue as well as severe photophobia (light sensitivity) and sensitivity to sound. Her processing speed tested 15% of normal. Walking is very difficult as she consistently dips to the right side. She cannot stand for more than a few minutes at a time without great fatigue. Her central/peripheral vision is distorted to where her nervous system is always in “fight/flight” mode, overreacting to visual and auditory stimuli. The ongoing accumulation of environmental, visual, physical, auditory and cognitive factors exponentially decreases her capacity to function. This creates a “sensory and system overload” which can shut her down until her brain has time to recover. Interacting with life and accomplishing even basic activities of daily living continues to be a challenge on a multitude of levels.
Lynn is a very outgoing, positive and fun-loving person who jumps at the chance to help others. She enjoys kayaking and playing games with friends. Although she has many struggles, she still focuses on all there is for which to be grateful and is an encouragement to others. More than anything, her hope is to heal enough to return to work and be able to once again support herself.
Lynn was eventually diagnosed with Post Trauma Vision Syndrome and Visual Midline Shift Syndrome. While there have been many incremental improvements for which she is very grateful, she continues to have a plethora of ongoing and often debilitating symptoms. Her search has recently led her to the Mind Eye Institute in Chicago, where people with similar symptoms travel from around the world for treatment. During her most recent visit, she also learned root causes for the majority of her symptoms which affect her central nervous system and she was able to see new practitioners in the area. While this new information gives Lynn much hope, she’s found that local practitioners do not offer many of the services she requires and so she must continue to travel to Chicago to get the therapies she needs.
Lynn now gets SSDI disability, but she requires treatments by specialists who either don’t take insurance, or insurance does not cover those treatments so the burden of all of her treatments falls on her alone. Her out of pocket medical costs in 2022 were greater than her entire disability check for the year, nearly 60% in 2023 and she’s already incurred extensive medical expenses for 2024. She eats because she gets food stamps. She works hard to make progress but without these recommended medical treatments, it continues to be at a snail’s pace. More than anything, she wants to go back to work and to be able to function on her own but the capability for continued recovery is fading and she needs your help.

August 2025Hello! My healing journey continues... I'm thankful to learn of new things to help as I learn more about the complexities of my brain injury. I just got back from yet another medical trip to Chicago, where I have specialized practitioners (due to no one in AZ being willing to treat adults, only pediatrics - Can I be five?! Pease?!?)). One of the things they're treating is called Retained Primitive Reflexes, which need to be reintegrated after my TBI. It's a much longer process because I can only go to Chicago a couple times a year due to the expense. This severely impairs my central nervous system, creating daily problems which can often be debilitating. The next thing on my plate is being assessed for Cervical Ligament Instability. It's a lengthy process and my upper cervical chiropractor says there's only a few doctors in the world who perform the intricate and highly specialized treatment which, of course, would be solely out of pocket. Luckily, he can recommend one in Utah, but that still a daunting venture. Step one is getting the multiple MRI's, which I'm told are also not likely covered by insurance. Each day, while a challenge, is an opportunity to actively practice gratitude. There's so much for which to be grateful, both big and small, and I choose to focus on God's blessings. I am grateful for your thoughts, prayers and support to help me reach my goal of getting back to work. Thank you!!

Hi Lynn, I am so sorry to hear of your story. I am sending my prayers to you. I am compelled to reach out because I am a Doctor of Acupuncture and I know WITH CERTAINTY that Neuro-acupuncture will heal you. It is a very simple treatment with just a few small needles in the scalp. It’s almost painless, and has been used on children. I have worked with my own TBI patients with the same deficits from multiple traumas, and neuro-acupuncture was flawless. My patients had trouble with equilibrium, depth perception, pain in the area, sensitivity to light, she would begin to see words backwards, headaches, issues with organization and processing thoughts, short term memory loss, anxiety, depression, and later, digestion issues. It worked so quickly for her, and this was years after her injuries. The treatments only last 40 min after taking your history and you will be sitting up in a chair. It can be done so easily. The Doctor I was certified with is close to you in Santa Fe, NM at the Neuro-acupuncture Institute. The sessions are not too expensive, I think they were charging $150 each. But the results are phenomenal.
Dr. Hao has cured paralyzed people. It is truly a miracle what it does. Go there. Now. You will get your life back

Hello Lynn,
I saw your story on the news and wanted to provide what I could. I have had multiple tbi\'s and experienced the symptoms you\'ve described. Over the years, I\'ve found some helpful methods to make things a little easier. Thankfully a lot to medical professionals while in military and VA programs. I\'m not sure if this is a two way communication site or not, so I\'ll post the things I can think of right now.
There are prescription glasses that can filter out the florescent lights, has helped me tremendously. Sumatriptan has been helpful for the nauseating migraine attacks. Hopefully helpful for your doctor to look into? Walking assistance device could help with balance (You do not want more head trauma from falling.)
Keeping you and your family in my prayers to endure in patience and relief.
