When Ashley was 12 years old she was diagnosed with an ultra-rare and disabling disease, Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). The disease progressively turns muscle and ligaments into bone preventing or limiting mobility and functionality in the person. Currently there is no cure for this disease.
Due to the progression of the disease, Ashley must now rely on a power wheelchair to navigate her world. Notwithstanding these physical challenges, Ashley is determined and refuses to let it hinder her dreams and ambitions. Ashley is currently enrolled full time in college and planning to get a Masters Degree in library sciences with the ultimate goal of becoming a librarian and living independently.
Living with a disability comes with enormous costs. Simple tasks like using stairs, leaving her home or driving become monumental challenges without necessary modifications to the home and vehicle. These medical modifications are expensive but crucial for a person with a disability to lead a productive and independent life.
You can make a difference in Ashley’s journey by supporting her through donations to Help Hope Live. Your contributions will help alleviate uninsured medical burdens faced by Ashley, which may include home modifications, accessible transportation as well as other unmet medical needs.
Family and friends of Ashley Martucci are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Illness.
Fundraising through Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you for your support!
Thank you for your continued support! Progression of the FOP has created new challenges for Ashley. Despite these challenges we are excited to report that Ashley graduated college in December on the Dean's list. She is also has been accepted to a Master's Program in Library Sciences which will commence in the fall. The construction to make our home more accessible is also progressing. Architectural plans have been drawn, a contractor retained and construction scheduled to begin this spring. In addition, a wheelchair ramp has been installed allowing wheelchair access from the driveway to the house which has been a blessing. Other smaller modifications have also been made as we continue to look for ways to make Ashley's environment safer and more accessible.
