Rosemary is our 6 year old daughter. She is perfect in every way but limited due to her medical conditions. Rosie is diagnosed with severe hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy(HIE), spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, seizures, hypertonicity of multiple joints and is gtube dependent. She cannot hold herself upright, has difficulty controlling her limbs and even holding her head up is difficult at times. What she can do is laugh and smile! She is an expert at smiling!Rosie LOVES road trips and we want to take her everywhere. Right now we have her in a standard car seat and we store her wheelchair in the trunk, this is heavy and awkward to do. As a stay at home mom I am responsible for Rosie’s daily needs. As she continues to grow I find it near impossible transport her on my own. I rely on medical transportation services (weekly to physical therapy and speech) and her Dad to take time off of work for all out of town doctors appointments (this is where the majority of his vacation time goes).Over the last year we were able to upgrade from a falling apart minivan to a 2012 Honda Odyssey which we hoped to convert. We learned that a mini van for conversion needs to be almost new for programs to work with the conversion. We have been encouraged to begin fundraising to start the journey to being able to buy a used already convertered van.Lori’s Voice has committed to funding our van with 30% of the cost of the vehicle up to $5000.Future purchase will be made through Superior Van and Mobility of South Bend. We have been in touch with them and feel quite confident that if we should reach our goal they will have a safe wheelchair accessible van for us.Rosemary has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. ROSIE GOT A VAN! More to come...
Ok friends and family. We are short due to my misunderstanding of how much Loris Voice was donating. It was up 5k not 5k. So the donation is 30% and that's including sales tax for a total of 2,544.
Total needed for just the vehicle is 8480.00
What we raise here needs to be about 6500 total as there are fees and such.
Can we do this??? I don't know but please help us try! The sellers of the van are giving us time.
New MUCH lower goal.
We are hoping to get a few things for the van:
4 new tires
Seat covers (to prevent further tearing/damage)
Air filters
Wiper blades
WE FOUND A WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VAN!
Thanks to all the donations and Lori's Voice we will be getting it October 1st.
It's definitely not new (2009) so it will need a few things. 1st things 1st will be tires!
You can still send in a donation that will go towards this upcoming purchase. Thank you friends who have already donated.
We have heard some new parks are opening in our area that will be handicap accessible for children in wheelchairs!
We appreciate every donation coming in. Currently waiting to hear what our current vans trade in value and a better figure on a used but in good shape converted mini van will cost us. We will then refigure how much our goal will be and hopefully we can get much closer. Thank you everyone!
With trading in our current vehicle, the help we can get through Lori's Voice and the great deal I'm sure we can find..
I am going to try lowering our goal to 20k.
I want everyone to know this is a reachable goal! TY so much!
