I have been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis which is caused by developing scar tissue in the lungs. It is mainly caused by Pneumonia, covid and other respiratory illnesses in the lungs. It is progressive and once diagnosed you are given a 3-5 years life expectancy. The best option I have to lead a happy, healthy life again is a double lung transplant.
I have had to leave my career from the USPS after 30 years of service because I am now oxygen dependent. I loved my job and all the people I served over the years. And you can imagine what not having a job can do to your finances. for a little over 8 months now but the expenses have not stopped coming.
This experience teaches you how precious life is and the little things we take for granted, just the breath we breathe everyday. Now it takes everything I have just to keep up with small everyday tasks. The most important thing that it has stolen from me is time with my family. I can’t even pick up my grandbabies , that breaks my heart. The first thing I want to do when I get better is hold my grandbabies and hug and love on them!!!
I will never take one minute for granted again. God has blessed me in so many ways!! I want to honor God for this amazing gift and my future donor by being the healthiest I can be and giving back as much as possible.
One of the requirements of a double lung transplant is staying in Florida for 4 months after the surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Even though I have great insurance, there are still many costs that aren’t covered. As this will be life long care and medication.. No one wants to be in this situation and it hurts me to even ask but you are greatly appreciated for your giving; whether it’s prayers or donations. I love each and everyone of you and thank you for being there for me during this difficult time ❤️
