Empower Chandra’s Fight for Independence and Inclusivity!

Chandra Smith is an IT engineer at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and an accessibility advocate. She faced a life-altering crisis in 2021 when her health deteriorated, leading to multi-organ failure and a stroke. After spending three weeks in a coma, she woke up and discovered she was septic and had to have three life-saving amputations. Despite being given a 1% chance of survival, she chose to fight.

After enduring a year and a day in the hospital, including six months in a burn unit due to 25 percent of her body being covered in medical burns, Chandra emerged as a testament to human resilience. She returned to her work, advocating for accessibility despite her physical limitations.
