On February 4, 2021 Nash woke up from his nap unable to breathe correctly. He was rushed to the ER where all tests and scans were clear.
They life flighted him to the Children’s Hospital 2 1/2 hours away. He was checked into the PICU and sent down for an MRI immediately. The MRI showed inflammation of his spinal cord from the bottom of the brain stem down to T7 vertebrae.
At just 6 months old Nash was paralyzed from the neck down with a rare disease called Acute Flaccid Myelitis. It is considered this generations Polio.
Nash received a tracheotomy and ventilator for breathing, and a g-button in his stomach for feeding. He and his mom spent the next 6 months in the hospital and inpatient rehab away from their family and his siblings back home. He is fully dependent on someone else for everything. Mom found an intense spinal cord injury rehabilitation program that Nash now attends daily.
He is a thriving, happy, and sassy 3 year old! He has come a long way since day one, and we want to continue helping him get stronger. You can follow along with his recovery on TikTok (jordangrim21) or Instagram (Jobabie21).
