Family and friends, we are asking for help to raise money for the nonprofit.
Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with
Richard Heagle’s Lung Transplantation.
Richard is a 59-year-old father of five children, grandfather of 12, and great grandfather of 2 with 1 on the way. In May 2022, he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, and now doctors say that a double lung transplant is critical to his survival. His journey to transplant will be long, and even with insurance, which will cover a portion of his transplant costs, Richard will face significant out-of-pocket costs for medication co-pays, deductibles, and temporary relocation expenses while he is required to stay near the transplant center during recovery.
Richard is a Retired/disabled printing press operator/mechanical engineer. He likes to play online strategy games, camping with family & friends, range shooting, shooting pool with friends, and traveling. He is shy around new people but cheerful, caring, loving, and most of all helpful to everyone around him. He loves watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. He loves his 13-year-old daughter very much and would love to see her grow up to become the famous pianist and artist she has always dreamed of.
Things he struggles with because of his diagnosis are doing work around the house, yard work, and strong smells. He gets breathless just walking too long, talking too much, or exercising. Richard is not able to get out of the house very much without an oxygen tank. He struggles with not being able to do things he was able to do before his diagnosis like spending time with his family and being able to do the things that he finds fun.
Richard looks forward to receiving his transplant so he can enjoy life with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and watch them all grow up and start their lives. He wants to spend many more years making memories with his family, but right now, he needs your help. We ask that you donate and share Richard’s fundraising page so that others can be aware of his need.
Richard has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Hey everybody it's all set up I go To the University of Washington Medical Center for my transplant work up test to see if they will put me on the list I go up there after the Second week of May.
I just learned that I will be going up to Seattle to do the work up test to see if i can get on the transplant list I will be going up there in the middle of may 2024
Richard is fundraising because the numerous out-of-pocket costs for housing, medicines and medical that are not covered by insurance the Average monthly charges post-transplant are $11,900 in year 1 and $4,500 thereafter, also the cost $3,400 a year while being a patient on the waiting-list for transplant. and can go on for years and that is just for a single lung transplant, or he might need a double lung transplant so cost could go up a lot more he will need medical and medicines for the rest of his life.
