Help Hope Live for Aria Malin

Help change 8 year old Ali’s life with a Service Dog!!

Meet our 8 year old daughter Ali. Ali struggles with Autism and sensory processing issues amongst other co-morbidities. She’s also gifted. Twice exceptional kids (disabled and gifted) face a different set of challenges than other children. Her journey has definitely been unique and not an easy one. Academically Ali is strong and thrives. Emotionally and socially she faces some huge obstacles due to her disabilities. Most people don’t realize how much she struggles internally until they see her lose control and are shocked. As her parents, our hearts break on a daily basis watching her struggles.

Today was big for us. The CCA allowed us to sit and hand out flyers for Ali while her brother played in a tournament. We are so proud of Ali for advocating for herself and for even meeting two wonderful new friends who helped her walk around and ask for donations. We can’t thank all the supporters who donated or shared this donation page enough! You guys are are amazing and we are so grateful for your support. Don’t forget to check back here or on her Facebook page for updates as we visit Joy and when Ali gets her next year: https://www.facebook.com/share/15dpQJXjvr/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Hello, Ali’s mom here! Sorry, I’ve been horrible about posting updates and sharing our fundraiser for most of the year. Joy has been doing amazing with her training. She’s passed her CGC-Urban (she has her public access training down: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1DbnXQRZiT/?mibextid=wwXIfr ), has started on her task work and even visited Universal Studios for the first time ( https://www.facebook.com/share/r/14WrKiQ1L5/?mibextid=wwXIfr ). As for us, well this year has been challenging. As you know Ali was diagnosed with PANDAS earlier this year. What has that meant for us? Aria wasn’t allowed to attend school the whole second semester of last year, and massive stress for the whole family while the PANDAS made her dysregulated for almost 6 full months. The swelling on her brain and spinal cord made it where she would only eat a limited amount of food, her personal hygiene declined, she was always escalated and she had to go on over ten medications each day. We have to pay for all of the specialist appointments and most of the diagnostics (in and out of state) out of pocket. It’s been a huge strain on us financially. We were very blessed that she beat her first flare in June. The end of July she had a 3 week flare, and now she is in the midst of a flare that has lasted almost two months. We’re hoping it passes soon. Stept has become something our family fears and hates. One would think that was where our bad luck ended. Nope, Ali was kicked out of before/after school care due to her disability and them not being willing to accommodate her which caused her to have meltdowns. So mom’s plan to work this year to pay for Joy backfired because now she has to drop Ali off to school and pick her up on time, which leaves little time to work. So I lost my full-time job. Add to that all the times I’ve had to pick her up from school due to her being dysregulated. Getting jobs within those hours the last month have been extremely challenging. We can’t wait for Joy to be here to help her when mom can’t be. Hopefully the holiday season this year will be strept and PANDAS flare free. Wishing your family an amazing holiday season!!
