Thank you for your support!
For those who know Drew, you know that Drew is always up for a new adventure. Life gave Drew a big opportunity for a completely new adventure when he suddenly suffered a Hemorrhagic Stroke in October of 2020. Fortunately, his wife at the time Amy, called emergency care immediately.
Because of the immediate care, Drew came out without damage to that beautiful spirit and personality they we all know and love.
Drew’s body and brain did not fare as well, but with intensive therapy initially in Chicago at Shirley Ryan rehabilitation hospital, and now 3 years later at Craig rehabilitation hospital in Denver, Drew is receiving intensive physical therapy, for his Right side (hemiparesis), occupational therapy, to learn how to become independent, and very importantly, learning how to communicate again, as he also has moderate to severe Aphasia because of the stroke.
In the beginning, friends a family put up a GoFundMe for Drew and his wife Amy, and both of them were eternally grateful. At that time, we had no idea what the future would bring for Drew.
Now after a lot of challenges and life changes, Drew is preparing for the next part of this journey.
He is now living in Colorado Springs with his mother and closer to his sister Leah, travelling to Denver to Craig hospital for intensive therapies, and has the desire to begin the process of living independently again….out of Mom’s house again…. Being his mother, I can’t understand that, but our chicks have to fly sometime. (ha-ha).
At this time, Drew is only receiving Social Security Disability, and although he is forever grateful of any and all services that he receives, there are many costs that are not covered by his insurance, and other services, such as living expenses, modifications to cars and houses, dental care, his power wheel chair, and travel expenses for his therapies that are absolutely essential part of him moving forward in his life.
Drew is so grateful and loves all of his friends and family so much and is humbled at asking for help, but work is not in the foreseeable future at this time because of his disabilities.
After being referred to Help Hope Live from Craig hospital, Drew really liked the concept behind Help Hope Live because of the money being designated for specific needs. Also, this is a 501c organization and will be completely tax deductible.
We will be constantly updating this website with photos and videos from now on.
Drew is so grateful for any kind of donation. Thank you for your continued support in Drew’s journey, and if a donation isn’t possible for you, please say howdy sometime. Drew loves to hear from Drew’s friends and family!
Love Always,
Drew Current, and family
Hello Everyone.
Hoping every one is enjoying this beautiful Spring, where ever you are.
Drew is returning to Craig in June for a 2 month stint, with focusing on Physical and Occupational therapies. And this time Drew will be starting the driving program at Craig, which in Drew's word's, " That will be totally CLUTCH" Craig Hospital works hard to help their patients with brain and spinal cord injury, find independence, and this is such a great service they provide. The next step moving forward for Drew assuming goes well with driving will be modifying a vehicle that will meet his needs. So any funds that we have and receive will go towards those modifications.
We will continue with this campaign on line for Drew, and on May 31st, we are having a (cleaning out the house) fund raising garage sale. We picked this date because it is the Day of Giving, and any donation that you make to Drew's campaign will be doubled, and as always you will receive a 501c tax deduction with your receipt.
If you are local, and would like to come see some of the treasures that we will have, it will be a fun day, and you'll be able to see Drew that day. The address if you are coming by to see us that day is 937 Columbine Ave, 80904.
If you would like to donate online, May 31st is that day of giving and your donation will be doubled.
Blessings and Good Health to all of you,
Drew, and Dana
Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for the kindness and support.
Drew is having amazing results from his Therapy at Craig Hospital.
He finished a 3 week stay at Craig in Aphasia therapy with some wonderful breakthroughs, and will be going back in May for 10 weeks for physical, occupational, and speech.
He is particularly excited because he can begin going to Craig's driving school for people with disabilities!!
Stay tuned for a video from Drew and information about Giving Day in May.
Thanks to every one
