Emily is fighting for her life. She was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy when she was just 12 years old. Now, seven years later, her condition has continued to decline, and doctors say a heart transplant is critical. Over the years, Emily has lost her ability to do any physical activity. She struggles with her disability. Growing up, she was not able to run and play like the other kids. Today, she is not able to live the active lifestyle she wishes to live because she is out of breath all the time. Emily is a loving, caring person. Some would even say she is weird and funny. While her activities are quite limited due to her heart condition, Emily still likes to mess around with her family, draw, play video games, and read books. She hopes that her heart transplant will allow her to have a more normal life and do the things that she has always wanted to do.
Since Emily is required to relocate to stay near the transplant team for 3-6 months, she will incur significant costs for travel, food, and lodging. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, she will have a lifetime of out-of-pocket medical expenses related to her transplant, including hospital costs, medication costs, co-pays, deductibles, and other transplant-related expenses.
Family and friends of Emily Heimsoth are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Emily has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.
