Two years ago, I was in a motorcycle accident that resulted in the loss of my right leg. Since then, I’ve learned to navigate life as an above-the-knee amputee. While I’m incredibly grateful for the mechanical knee I currently use, I’ve quickly come to realize its limitations. Especially due to the lack of insurance coverage for more advanced prosthetics.
The knee I’m using now allows me to get by, but it significantly restricts my daily activities and physical mobility. I’ve had the opportunity to trial a microprocessor knee, and the difference it made for me, was life changing. It not only improved my safety but it enhanced my quality of life. The right device truly makes a difference, it’s like trying to hike without proper shoes. Limiting what you can do, no matter how willing or capable you are.
Limits on access to proper prosthetic care don’t reflect my true ability or potential. I’m reaching out in the hope of receiving support for a safer, more advanced device that will allow me to fully show who I am and the life I am capable of living.
The cost of the microprocessor knee I need is $11,000.00. Your support could help me take a major step forward, literally and figuratively.
