Welcome folks to the “One Step at a Time” Campaign! For the past year I’ve been asked hundreds, if not thousands, of times “How are you doing?” Trying to condense this immense experience into a single response has been so uncomfortable and difficult for me, I never knew where to start. I ended up relying on on a mantra of mine that has continued to surface throughout my recovery: “I’m doing alright, just trying to take it one step at a time.”This response has since evolved into more than a mantra and now permeates every part of my recovery. At the gym while I’m pushing myself maybe a bit too much: “slow down, just one step at a time.” While feeling frustrated filing the endless paperwork for disability, unemployment, and hospital records: “just one step at a time homie, relax.” When I’m feeling discouraged in my recovery and need a reminder of how far I’ve come: “I’m here and got here one step at a time.” This simple reminder to relax and trust the timing of the universe has completely changed not only my recovery, but my outlook on life. Prior to being shot and left dead, I was moving way too quickly, doing way too much. Tirelessly working and constantly looking to make more money. Moving three times in a three month timespan. My drinking was at an all time high, and my self care was at an all time low. To say the least it was overwhelming and I was all alone.
After the shooting, I woke up in the hospital, unable to move my legs and my insides rearranged. The realization came crashing down on me: I have to slow down. It dawned on me that I had the opportunity to do something powerful, and it took this terrible incident to realize that life is not about racing to the finish line. No longer just a mantra “One Step at a Time” was born as the groundwork for an entire philosophy. From the moment I could finally move my big toe again, to being able to walk up and down a couple of stairs, it has all been “One Step at a Time.
”I’ve developed an immense gratitude for each and every step and I don’t take this life for granted. As a philosophy that has helped me heal, move forward, and overall increase the quality of my life, I would like to invite you all to join me in taking our lives “One Step at a Time.”

Hey Folks ! Thank you for checking out my new Fundraiser/ Campaign ! It's been almost fourteen months now and it seems I've still got a very long way to go. I've been fighting with my whole body, heart, and mind for the past year to get where I am ,and I would not have been able to do that without the help and support of you all. Recovering alone is more difficult than I can share, but I am so eternally grateful for the opportunity to prove to myself that I can do it, and to hopefully inspire others as to what is possible with a little faith and community. Thank you all so much for your continued support and love! The medical expenses are staggering, so anything helps truly! Even if you aren't able to contribute monetarily, a good word of support and a share means just as much!
