In October 2023, Darrell was diagnosed with end-stage liver disease, a diagnosis that has dramatically altered the course of his life. As Darrell navigates this challenging journey, he finds solace and strength in the unwavering support of his loving family, particularly his wife Lori, and their two children, Cory and Madison, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Paisley and Paxton.
For nearly 34 years, Lori and Darrell have built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared experiences. They have weathered life’s storms together and celebrated its triumphs side by side. As Darrell’s illness progressed, he had to confront the harsh reality of his limitations. The symptoms of his condition, including ascites and debilitating swelling, have made everyday tasks like walking and breathing a challenge. After undergoing numerous Paracentesis procedures, the road to recovery has improved.
One of the most heartbreaking aspects of Darrell’s illness has been the toll it has taken on his and his family’s life. He would love to have the ability to be active in his family’s life. Darrell has always cherished the moments spent outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing, or camping. Yet, as Darrell’s condition has worsened, these activities have become increasingly difficult to enjoy. Darrell’s greatest desire is to reclaim these moments with his loved ones, to watch his children and grandchildren flourish, and to bask in the beauty of the natural world once more.
Family and friends of Darrell Neahring are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
