Introducing Sheldon Dicks: a beacon of resilience and courage. At just 23 years old, Sheldon has already conquered numerous health battles, defying the odds time and again. From overcoming congenital heart defects to surviving life-threatening sepsis, Sheldon’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary.
Born with transposition of the great vessels, Sheldon underwent multiple open heart surgeries as an infant, young child, and young adult; each time emerging stronger than before. Despite setbacks, including pyloric stenosis and aortic valve replacement, Sheldon’s spirit remained unyielding.
Now, Sheldon faces a new challenge: a small bowel transplant. In his 23 years of life, he has had 34 surgeries that have left him with extensive intestinal scarring, requiring an ostomy bag and ongoing medical attention. But Sheldon’s determination knows no bounds. As he prepares for this critical procedure, Sheldon and his family need our help. The transplant process is rare and demanding, necessitating a move to Omaha, Nebraska for several months. With medical expenses mounting and insurance coverage falling short, the financial burden weighs heavily.
But together, we can make a difference. Your donation will provide vital support for Sheldon’s journey – covering medical expenses, relocation costs, and ongoing care. Let’s stand with Sheldon as he bravely faces the road ahead, ensuring he receives the care and support he deserves.
Join us in rallying behind this remarkable young man as he embarks on his next chapter. Every contribution brings us closer to ensuring Sheldon’s journey is filled with hope, healing, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Sheldon dreams of continuing his education and completing his pre-med schooling to propel him to use his life experiences combined with his future education to become a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon.

Sheldon is currently awaiting an aortic valve replacement. He will receive a TAVR valve next week. Currently he is listed as inactive on the transplant until he gets this fixed and heals up, then he will be back on the list.
